Bolivia's President Evo Morales can seek third term

Evo Morales, another enraged leftist, who can't even be bound by his own rules.... Vive Che, vive la guerre, Hope and Change! - Yawn-gag-yawn....

Bolivia's Constitutional Court has ruled that President Evo Morales can run for a third term in elections scheduled for December 2014.

Under Bolivia's constitution, presidents are only allowed to serve two consecutive terms.

But the court argued that Mr Morales's first term should not count because it predated the current constitution, which was amended in 2009.

Critics said the ruling showed that the court was controlled by the government

‘Confusing Terrorists with Their Victims’: Kerry Slammed for Comparing Families of Gaza Flotilla Incident with Boston Bombing Families

"Ghengis John" Kerry at it again.  Actually, I don't think Kerry confuses terrorists with their victims, any more than he was confused when he told students at an elite university,  five years into a war following 9/11, to study hard so they don't "get stuck in the war in Iraq." (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2006/10/tony_snow_reads/).  (Many of us fighting there, at the time of this treasonous statement, felt priviliged to be serving our country forward, and did not need advice from this fat-headed poseur-simpleton on how to avoid the war).  Kerry is a self-infatuated moron and coward.

[...] Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon was quick to slam Kerry over his word choice. “It is never helpful when a moral equivalency is made confusing terrorists with their victims,” Danon told The Times of Israel on Monday.
“As our American friends were made all too aware once again last week, the only way to deal with the evils of terrorism it to wage an unrelenting war against its perpetrators wherever they may be,” added Danon, who is a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party.
Pundits expressed shock that Kerry would equate terrorists with innocent victims, including the slain eight-year-old Martin Richard.
At a press conference in Istanbul on Sunday, Kerry commented on efforts to bridge relations between Israel and Turkey. That’s when he made the controversial comments. According to the official State Department transcript, he said:

I think Turkey is working in very good faith to get there. I know it’s an emotional issue with some people. I particularly say to the families of people who were lost in the incident we understand these tragedies completely and we sympathize with them. And nobody – I mean, I have just been through the week of Boston and I have deep feelings for what happens when you have violence and something happens and you lose people that are near and dear to you. It affects a community, it affects a country. We’re very sensitive to that.
But going forward, we have to find the best way to bring people together to reduce tensions and undo the stereotypes that divide people and try to make peace.
Middle East expert Barry Rubin, Director of the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center, tells TheBlaze, “To call Kerry’s statement incredibly ignorant, insulting to Israel, and counterproductive is an understatement. Those killed on the Mavi Marmara were terrorists, aiding a group (Hamas) like those who committed the Boston atrocity.”
“Now he labels Israel as terrorist for defending itself from terrorists. Kerry’s statement gave the Turks justification for not conciliating. Would Americans accept an apology from those who staged the Boston attack? Of course not,” Rubin added.
Israel National News calls Kerry’s words “a jarring comparison.”
The blog Israel Matzav writes: “Just when you thought you’d heard it all from the Obama administration…”

The blog’s author, “Carl in Jerusalem,” is a Boston native. He’s calling on his fellow Bostonians and the Israeli government to respond. Of Kerry’s comments, he writes sarcastically:
Right…. Because 8-year old blockade runner Martin Richard (pictured) attacked soldiers with hunting knives and attempted to throw them overboard into the sea….
The Israeli government at the highest levels (Netanyahu and Steinitz, who is effectively acting Foreign Minister) needs to call Kerry on this. That comparison cannot be allowed to pass.
For that matter, the people of Boston should call him on it as well.
Among the nine killed aboard the Mavi Marmara were members of the IHH. The Turkish organization calls itself a humanitarian group, but has been accused of involvement in terrorist activities, including by European lawmakers who are pushing to add it to the European Union’s list of terrorist entities.

Progressive Logic 101

Maybe We Can Keep Our Air Traffic Controllers After All.... : )

This one's disgusting: Politicians suborning fraud in a conspiracy to widen their electoral base, to the tune of potentially 4 billion-plus dollars (not to mention fostering false accusations, which divide the nation, for their own, personal political aggrandizement).  ABSOLUTELY need a Special Prosecutor appointed by a bi-partisan committee to discover and charge EVERYONE involved in this one.  The tax dollars of the American people once again robbed by sleezy Washington politicians.

U.S. Opens Spigot After Farmers Claim Discrimination

New York Times, Sharon LaFraniere.
25 April 2013

In the winter of 2010, after a decade of defending the government against bias claims by Hispanic and female farmers, Justice Department lawyers seemed to have victory within their grasp.

Ever since the Clinton administration agreed in 1999 to make $50,000 payments to thousands of black farmers, the Hispanics and women had been clamoring in courtrooms and in Congress for the same deal. They argued, as the African-Americans had, that biased federal loan officers had systematically thwarted their attempts to borrow money to farm.

But a succession of courts — and finally the Supreme Court — had rebuffed their pleas. Instead of an army of potential claimants, the government faced just 91 plaintiffs. Those cases, the government lawyers figured, could be dispatched at limited cost.

They were wrong.

On the heels of the Supreme Court’s ruling, interviews and records show, the Obama administration’s political appointees at the Justice and Agriculture Departments engineered a stunning turnabout: they committed $1.33 billion to compensate not just the 91 plaintiffs but thousands of Hispanic and female farmers who had never claimed bias in court. [....]

The compensation effort sprang from a desire to redress what the government and a federal judge agreed was a painful legacy of bias against African-Americans by the Agriculture Department. But an examination by The New York Times shows that it became a runaway train, driven by racial politics, pressure from influential members of Congress and law firms that stand to gain more than $130 million in fees. In the past five years, it has grown to encompass a second group of African-Americans as well as Hispanic, female and Native American farmers. In all, more than 90,000 people have filed claims. The total cost could top $4.4 billion.

Proposed Immigration Bill Not Good for America; Why is Rubio Supporting?

According to NumbersUSA, the immigration bill being floated by the "Gang of Eight" will add over 30 million new members to the Democratic Party.  Wait: I meant the current bill is estimated to attract over 30 million illegal aliens to America where they will be legalized and provided a pathway to citizenship.

Now, I understand why the Democratic Party is salivating at the thought of enslaving millions of additional Americans to welfare rolls.  They know this immigration bill will finish off the GOP (which is doing a very good job of that without the help of this bill, but I digress) by adding millions of new democratic voters.

Why is Sen. Marco Rubio supporting this bill?

He is doing his best to explain why this is good for America but it's just not working out and I am beginning to wonder if he is the TEA Party's Manchurian candidate.  I hope not but I just don't get it.  As the saying goes, one can dress up a turd sandwich, but in the end, it is still a turd sandwich. That is what this bill is--a gigantic, terrible turd sandwich and I wonder where's the outrage?

Is this a misguided attempt to show that the TEA Party loves immigrants?  I know I do, but not the ones who come here illegally with nothing to add to the country.  Many are totally illiterate, not even understanding how to write in Spanish, much less English and most have no marketable skills, aside from manual labor.  We are in a very troubled time, both socially and economically. What does America have to gain from this illegal invasion/influx?

There are currently over 11 Million Americans unemployed (this does not account for those who have given up looking), one in five who are on food stamps, and the GDP at 1.8%.  And, oh by the way, Boston was just bombed by two Islamic Fascists who were on welfare.  Also the Mexican government is demanding the Obama Administration financially assist Mexican illegals in the United States.  Meanwhile, the White House is closed to public tours, FAA has laid off air traffic controllers and the Department of Defense furloughs civilian employees...but the White House parties on by hosting tributes to Motown.

If I were Barrack Hussein Obama, I would party too. If this bill becomes law, he will have a one party government devoted to advancing Statism and this will ruin the USA.

Rubio is smart and for the most part, I like his politics.  However, I do not like this bill and I wonder why he supports it.

Hypocrisy

Undernews of the week: TPS extension for immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua

Really demonstrates how serious the Democrats are on telling you the truth on immigration.  Need a job??? -- the potential for votes from illegal immigrants or their voting blocs matter more than you or your family having a job.  Maybe you will get enough of a handout from the administration that "cares" to keep you at the poverty line and desperate to secure your next meal in exchange for your party loyalty.  Hope and Change, sucker!

Politico
My candidate for undercovered news story of the week: the extension of TPS for immigrants potentially subject to deportation to Honduras or Nicaragua.

What's TPS? Unheard of in many communities, it stands for Temporary Protected Status and is well known in places with substantial populations of immigrants from Central America [...].

The provision allows the federal government to defer deportations, nominally temporarily, to countries where a problem such as natural disaster or unrest could put added stress on a country or make it unsafe for those abroad to return. Perhaps more importantly than halting deportations, it allows immigrants in the U.S. illegally from those countries to receive authorization to work here.

On Wednesday, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced that she was extending the legal status of immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua for another 18 months. The action was purportedly taken to allow the countries more time to recover from a hurricane. If you're having trouble remembering a huge hurricane that hit the region recently, it's not you. The disaster which led to the deportation halt, Hurricane Mitch, took place in the fall of 1998—more than 14 years ago.

Jay Z and Beyonce Party In Cuba Without Regard For Human Rights Violations

Obama's starlet buddies, living the life, partying in a country with no respect for human rights -- while Cuba's earstwhile ally, North Korea, makes official statements stating their readiness to launch nuclear weapons against civilian targets in the United States.  Obama gawks like Bambi in the headlights.  The only thing Barack Obama is good at is dividing and manipulating people and stealing other people's stuff.  He has demonstrated no capability to either set the conditions for the creation of wealth or productivity nor resolve any diplomatic impasse.  FAIL.

From Weasel Zippers
Jay-Z and Beyonce are clueless about the tortures happening in Cuba, and it’s insulting they chose to visit the communist country for a celebration … so says a Cuban rights lobbyist.

Mauricio Claver-Carone, the D.C. director for the US-Cuba Democracy PAC — a group committed to fighting for democracy in Cuba — tells TMZ the A-listers should’ve educated themselves about what’s really going on there before taking photo ops.

Jay and Bey were photographed Thursday in Havana — reportedly to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary — but have since come under fire from some Cuban-American groups.

US citizens are still technically banned from traveling to the island purely for tourism … and are supposed to obtain a travel license from the US government.

Mauricio says he’s disappointed the superstars chose to vacay in Cuba because, “There are women getting beaten on a daily basis, women who are being jailed for no reason … people are fighting for their freedom. It’s extremely insensitive.”

BOOMTOWN 2: Taxpayers Have Spent $15 Trillion on 'War on Poverty'

Study seems to suggest that the only result of the thirty-plus-year "War on Poverty" is increased dependency and lower productivity.

Since President Lyndon Baines Johnson declared “war on poverty,” U.S. taxpayers have spent $15 trillion on so-called anti-poverty programs—a figure slightly less than the national debt. [...]

In 1969, just 2.8 million Americans received food stamps. Today, over 47 million Americans are on food stamps. The Fox News special explained that one contributing factor to the massive expansion of the food stamp program is the crony capitalism that has cropped up around the anti-poverty program. [...]

In Florida, State Senator Ronda Storms (R-Valrico) introduced a bill last year that would keep taxpayer-funded SNAP benefits from being spent on non-essential items like sodas, candy, chips, ice cream, and other junk foods.

“The biggest opponents I have right now are Coca Cola, the soda companies, the chip companies and the convenience store operators,” said Storms in an interview with Fox News.

State Representative John Wood (R-Winter Haven) said Storms’ provision was a step in the right direction.

“We are talking about a government benefit,” said Wood. “And therefore, in my mind, we can restrict how that benefit is utilized.”
