OBAMA DENIES ROLE IN GOVERNMENT

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—President Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to reassure the American people that he has “played no role whatsoever” in the U.S. government over the past four years.

“Right now, many of you are angry at the government, and no one is angrier than I am,” he said. “Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an organization.”

The President’s outrage only increased, he said, when he “recently became aware of a part of that government called the Department of Justice.”

“The more I learn about the activities of these individuals, the more certain I am that I would not want to be associated with them,” he said. “They sound like bad news.”

Mr. Obama closed his address by indicating that beginning next week he would enforce what he called a “zero tolerance policy on governing.”

“If I find that any members of my Administration have had any intimate knowledge of, or involvement in, the workings of the United States government, they will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.

An Iranian man convicted of smuggling arms into Nigeria has been sentenced to five years in prison by a Lagos court.

Rockets, mortars and grenades were among the weapons seized from a ship which docked in Lagos in 2010.

Court documents said they were due for re-export to The Gambia, in defiance of a UN arms embargo on Iran.

Nigerian Usman Abbas Jega was convicted alongside Azim Aghajani, who is alleged to be a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards and is on a UN blacklist.

Chris Stone was recently appointed head of the US-based Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA) by the American University in Cairo (AUC).
He has been praised for his pro-Palestine views and his interest in Arab culture

IRS knew of Tea Party profiling in 2011, report shows

This is getting more and more outrageous -- apparently, groups were given "enhanced scrutiny" and their applications sent to a team of investigators if they were "critical of how the country was being run," or "the group's stated issues included government spending, government debt or taxes."  If you can't read between the lines here, expressing criticism of the adminstration subjected you to investigation.  This is getting ridiculous.  Of course, the President will again say, "I didn't know.  I can't control this; I'm only the President of the United States."  I didn't know Jeremiah Wright; I didn't know Bill Ayers, etc etc etc.  Clueless and incompetent or criminal -- both of them disqualify you for the job.

The briefing paper showed that the IRS was subjecting certain groups to further investigation based on politically loaded terms in the tax-exempt application file. Groups were singled out for enhanced scrutiny if:
• The words "tea party," "patriots," or "9/12 project" appeared anywhere in the group name or case file;
• The group's stated issues included government spending, government debt or taxes;
• The organization had a goal of educating of the public via advocacy or lobbying to "make America a better place to live;"
• Any statements in the case file critical of how the country is being run.

IRS Apologizes for Scrutiny of Conservative Groups

WASHINGTON—The Internal Revenue Service apologized Friday for what it said were mistakes in targeting tea-party and other conservative groups for extra scrutiny during the 2012 election campaign, but said its actions weren't politically motivated.

"We made some mistakes," Lois Lerner, head of the IRS tax-exempt organizations division, told reporters. "Some people didn't use good judgment....For that we're apologetic."

The IRS added in a statement that the errors "were in no way due to any political or partisan rationale." Agency officials said the improper actions were taken by career civil servants, not by political appointees.

The announcement didn't mollify many in the tea-party movement or Republicans on Capitol Hill. The IRS last year denied that any political groups were targeted.

"Today's acknowledgment by the Obama administration that the IRS did in fact target conservative groups in the heat of last year's national election is not enough," said Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. "Today, I call on the White House to conduct a transparent, government-wide review aimed at assuring the American people that these thuggish practices are not underway at the IRS or elsewhere in the administration against anyone, regardless of their political views."

Over the weekend, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa announced the names of Benghazi whistleblowers who will testify Wednesday about the deadly 9/11 terrorist attack before a congressional hearing on Capitol Hill. As a reminder, the White House told the country the attack in Benghazi, which left four Americans dead including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, was simply a protest that spun out of control. According to whistleblower and State Department veteran Gregory Hicks, who will testify Wednesday, his "jaw hit the floor" when he heard this explanation being used by UN Ambassador Susan Rice on multiple Sunday news shows, the White House and the State Department after the attack. Hicks has told congressional investigators that everyone at the State Department knew this was a terrorist attack from the very beginning yet the State Department, with White House approval, repeatedly changed talking points to avoid classifying it as a terrorist attack for the American people. Further, Hicks said he never reported a demonstration but that he reported an attack. Not to mention, the White House and State Department threw the President of Libya under the bus with their excuses and lies in the process.

At least 22 people were killed and at least 60 injured as police fought running battles with thousands of Islamic fundamentalists in the capital Dhaka today.

Fighting broke out as police and paramilitary guards used tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets to control an estimated 70,000 demonstrators demanding a new anti-blasphemy law and the death penalty for a group of 'atheist bloggers.'

Attack on northeast Nigeria church, market kills 10

KADUNA, Nigeria (Reuters) - Gunmen killed 10 people in an attack on a market and a church in northeast Nigeria before fleeing over the border to Cameroon, police said on Monday.

The attack took place on Sunday in the farming village of Njilang, Adamawa state, near the border, an area that has become a haven for Islamist sect Boko Haram.

"The gunmen opened fire in the village market, killing six persons, then proceeded to the church and opened fire there too, killing four more," Adamawa state police spokesman Mohammed Ibrahim said by telephone.

Nine others were being treated in hospital for wounds.

Four Saudi Arabian nationals have been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on a Tanzanian church that the country's president has called "an act of terror".

The Vatican's ambassador to Tanzania was at the Roman Catholic church in Arusha, which had just been built and was holding its first mass, when the bomb went off.

He was unharmed, but two people died and 30 were injured in the first significant such raid on Tanzania's Christian community at worship.

Air Force Buys $59/Gal Biofuel from Company Connected to Big Democratic Donor

In an effort to make good on President Barack Obama’s commitment to “green energy,” the United States Air Force spent $639,000 on 11,000 gallons of alcohol-to-jet fuel from Gevo Inc., a Colorado biofuels company, at $59 a gallon.
The cost of petroleum is presently $3.60 a gallon.
Similarly, in preparation for last week's "Green Fleet Demonstration,” the U.S. Navy purchased $12 million in biofuels to prove that a carrier strike group could be run on biofuels for the day. It’s all part of the Obama Administration’s decision last year to direct the Navy, Agriculture department, and the Energy department to spend $510 million in taxpayer monies on alternative jet and marine fuels.
But what may appear on the surface to be a green energy initiative may instead by yet another example of cronyism between the green energy industry and Democratic lawmakers.
As it turns out, one of the venture capital funders behind Gevo Inc. is Vinod Khosla. Since 1996, opensecrets.org reports that Mr. Khosla has made $474,534 in campaign donations, 86 percent of which went to Democrats.

Khosla's firm owned a 27 percent stake in Gevo as of the company's March federal filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Khosla also has close ties to another venture capital firm whose team includes Al Gore, the former vice president and Democratic presidential candidate in 2000.
Mr. Khosla is no stranger to failed biofuel projects involving taxpayer monies. He was the chief backer of Range Fuels, a biofuels company that received a government-guaranteed $64 million loan only to later go bust and leave taxpayers holding the bag.
In his book, Throw Them All Out, Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer revealed that 80 percent of the Department of Energy’s $20.5 billion loan program went to companies owned by or connected to Mr. Obama’s campaign donors

Mayor of Washington D.C. Vincent Gray wants illegal immigrants to have driver’s licenses. His bill would allow illegal immigrants to get licenses or IDs that would not allow them to fly or enter federal buildings, but would allow them to do virtually everything else. The normal ID would allow legal residents to do everything else.

Some immigration advocates say that isn’t enough, and are encouraging Gray to issue a universal license for both illegal immigrants and legal residents

NAIROBI, Kenya – A Kenyan court has found two Iranian nationals guilty of planning to attack Western targets in Kenya.

Magistrate Kaire Waweru Kiare said Thursday the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt all counts against the two.

Ahmad Abolfathi Mohammad and Sayed Mansour Mousavi were charged with preparing to commit acts intended to cause grievous harm after they were arrested in June 2012 and led officials to a 15-kilogram (33-pound) stash of the explosive RDX.

Iranian agents are suspected in attacks or thwarted attacks around the globe in recent years, including in Azerbaijan, Thailand and India. Most of the plots had connections to Israeli targets.

Kenyan anti-terror officials said the Iranians are members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Quds Force, an elite and secretive unit.

Bolivia Expels USAID


Bolivian President Evo Morales says he is expelling the U.S. Agency for International Development, accusing it of interfering in his country's internal affairs.

Morales said Wednesday during a May Day speech in La Paz that the United States no longer will "manipulate" the Bolivian economy and its politics.

In 2008, he threw out the U.S. ambassador and officials from the Drug Enforcement Agency.
